Collett files affidavit in district court to contest the primary election

On May 30, 2014, Greg Collett filed an Affidavit and Notice of Contest to contest the 2014 primary election nomination of Patti Anne Lodge for the office of state senator representing District 11. The Affidavit was filed in district court for the Third Judicial District in Canyon County. The case was assigned to Judge George A. Southworth.

If the primary election is set aside or annulled, the new Republican candidate who will appear on the ballot in the November general election will be chosen by the Legislative District 11 Republican Central Committee.

Prior to taking this legal action, Greg Collett sought administrative action from both the Secretary of State and the County Clerk. He also attended the meeting of the Board of Canvassers, which consists of the County Commissioners, and requested that they not certify the election results because Patti Anne Lodge was not qualified to be on the ballot. In all cases, Collett was refused or ignored.
